1.  Do not evolve, transfer or power up your pokemons unless really required, there are a lot of research tasks which requires you to do so. 
2. Use the search feature in pokemon to find which pokemons are ready to be evolved or mega evolve. 
3. Tagging pokemons which require less candies to evolve is a good technique to avoid wasting time.
